My name is Pia Prashanth (she/her), your 2026-2027 Vice President of Internal Affairs (VPIA)! I am a fourth-year Public Policy and Gender & Sexuality Studies double major, hoping to go into gender equity advocacy and everything that falls under that umbrella.
As a longtime Riverside resident (#IE!), I'm so proud to attend such an incredible institution right in my own backyard. On campus, you may have seen me working at the Women’s Resource Center or the CARE Office!
This year, the Office of Internal Affairs and I are excited and ready to advocate for you! We hope to bring equitable opportunities and resources to campus, including expanding initiatives centering basic needs, minimizing barriers to academic success, and ensuring our student body is well-informed about the resources available across campus.
On a more personal note, I run a small baking business. If I were not so passionate about advocacy, I’d probably be in culinary school! And if not that, I’d probably be an Astronomy major, because I love the stars and all things space!

Basic Needs Committee
The ASUCR Basic Needs Committee, operating under the ASUCR Office of Internal Affairs, is responsible for communicating, strategizing and developing ideas, projects and initiatives to support campus basic needs efforts. This includes coordinating collaborations between campus entities involved with basic needs efforts, hosting events pertaining to basic needs affairs, working on advocacy and legislation to support basic needs efforts on campus, et cetera. The Basic Needs Committee oversees projects such as Swipe Out Hunger, Scotty Eats, and collaborations with the Basic Needs Department.
Academic Affairs Committee
The ASUCR Academic Affairs Committee, operating under the ASUCR Office of Internal Affairs, is expected to assist with the facilitation of the Associated Students year-round testing material initiative and keep an inventory of all testing materials. This committee shall execute the quarterly Midterm Test Material Wagon and Finals Snack Wagon initiatives in coordination with the UCR Libraries.
