Office of the Vice President of Sustainability
Anahita Hooshyari Far
Hello everyone!
My name is Anahita (Ana) Hooshyari far. I am a third-year Sociology/Law & Society student with a minor in Environmental Studies under the SEHE department. Over these past two years I started off as an Executive Fellow under the Sustainability branch of ASUCR called the Green Campus Action Plan (GCAP) where I hosted a multitude of events including GCAP Open House with Bring Your Own Cup Boba as well as an eco-bricking series to teach students how to divert their waste from landfills and potentially make money from it.
This past year I served as one of the CHASS Senators under ASUCR where I maintained my involvement heavily in GCAP, focusing on larger scale projects such as our first ever GCAP Farmer’s Market and helping with the planning of our annual Earth Day Festival, along with passing many resolutions and bills regarding sustainability efforts on campus.
This year as GCAP Director I plan to continue a lot of initiatives that me and my mentor/past VPS Ellen Nguyen worked on such as the Sip n Save program, promoting “Caught Green Handed”, having more GCAP Farmer’s Markets, and to reduce single use plastics on campus. Something I am also passionate about is our R’Garden and I hope to support the referendum process by promoting the services and the wonderful staff and interns working in the R’Garden.
GCAP is dear to me and if you are interested in any sustainability efforts on campus and would like to join either the Programming, Initiatives, Marketing, Policy, or Volunteering team as an intern, director, or an Executive Fellow I highly recommend you apply! We also have plenty of Green Grants to give out to our students so if you are part of a student-led/club-led environmental conservation & protection project and would like to receive a grant to support your efforts feel free to apply using the GCAP website :)
Feel free to reach out for Green Grant consultations or general questions to me via email: ahoos003@ucr.edu
